日本屈指のグローバル・スポーツ・メーカーASICS とヴィジュアル・カルチャー・マガジン『+81』が毎回異なるクリエイターを迎え、彼らにASICS の最新ランニングシューズ『ASICS33』のコンセプトや特徴、仕様、機能性から想起したヴィジュアルを、本企画のためにオリジナルで制作してもらうという３者コラボレーション・プロジェクトを開始。
本プロジェクトの第1弾クリエイターとして、最新号の+81 vol.57でも紹介している、繊細なカラーリングと大胆な構図が印象的なシルクスクリーン・アーティストKate Gibb が参加。『ASICS33』の名前の由来となった、人間の足首から足先にある33カ所の関節を発想の起点に、シルクスクリーンを用いた抽象的なヴィジュアルへと昇華している。『Imprint（刻印）』と名付けられたこのアートワークは、ランナー本来の自然な運動動作を引き出す“Natural Running”という『ASICS33』のコンセプトを、それぞれのシェイプが相互作用し、流動的な動きによりシェイプ同士が結びつき、新しい構図を生み出すような連動性のあるヴィジュアルを通して表現している。また、『ASICS33』のカラー・バリエーションを連想するかのような、インパクトのある鮮明な色使いがアクセントとなっている。
今後も、ASICS が持つ精密な高等技術が集約された『ASICS33』と、クリエイターが持つ独自の感性やクリエイティヴィとが融合させることにより、『ASICS33』の深層的な魅力をオリジナル・アートワークとして描写していく。

Japan’s leading global sports brand, ASICS and visual culture magazine, +81 has asked various creators to generate an artwork underlining the new running shoes ASICS33’s concept, specification and its function visually. Here on, 3 sides have gathered to participate in this project especially to create an original art piece.
As a very first project in +81 vol.57, we have collaborated with an artist who has impressed us her delicate coloring and dynamic composition – silkscreen artist, Kate Gibb. The name ASICS33 is derived from 33 joints that a human has from the ankle to feet. Her silkscreening technique has sublimed as an abstract visual. This piece titled “Imprint” depicts the runner’s natural behavior when exercising through ‘Natural Running’ in which is the concept of ASICS33. Each shape interacts with each other as the lines meet at the connecting points. The pattern looks as if it’ll revolve to make new visual composition. Also, to recall the color variation of ASICS33, its vivid color usage accentuates as the reminder throughout the composition.
Furthermore, ASICS’ innovative and high precision marks this product ASICS33. With the creator’s unique sense of creativity to render this idea of ASICS33, from here on, we will allure you with original artworks done by various artists.
