1. Freelance translators, proofreaders, and interviewers
This position involves translation, proofreading, and interview-related tasks for +81.
A: Translate English text to Japanese, edit, proofread, or rewrite translated text, as well as transcribe interviews recorded in      English
B: Translate Japanese text into English, edit, proofread, or rewrite translated text, as well as transcribe interviews recorded      in Japanese
C: Interview creators from overseas either in person or via Skype, then transcribe the interview
 
2. Contributing writers & editors
This position involves writing and/or editing articles that will appear in +81
i.e. book and take part in interviews, shoots, or studio visits, compose articles and receive confirmation from those featured in them, conduct research on local scenes and creators, provide any additional on-site coordination as needed, etc.
 
3. Freelance photographers
Take photos that will appear in +81
i.e. shooting portraits, interior/exterior shots of studios and shops, city images and other local scenery, selecting thumbnail images, retouching, etc.
 
4. Freelance editorial designers
This position involves page design for +81
i.e. meet with the team regarding page layout, provide editorial design for pages, revise designs as needed, input manuscripts, check colors on proofs, etc.
 
5. Part-time staff & interns of +81 editorial team
Provide overall assistance in the production, publication, and distribution of +81.
 
 
< Qualifications & Requirements >
1. Freelance translators, proofreaders, and interviewers
- From all nationalities, either lives in Japan or abroad, are welcomed
*Fluency in Japanese is a plus for those from other countries
- A: Experience as a translator
 B: Experience as a proofreader
 C: Experience interviewing in English
- Preference will be given to those with experience in A, B, or C, and especially those capable of performing tasks in all three categories
- An understanding of creative culture, especially graphic design, art, and fashion
 
2. Contributing writers & editors
- From all nationalities, either lives in Japan or abroad, are welcomed
*Preferred locales
- Asia (Tokyo, Beijing, Shanghai, Seoul, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, etc.)
- United States (New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, etc.)
- Europe (London, Paris, Amsterdam, Berlin, Milan, Scandinavia, etc.)
- Others (major cities in Canada, Australia, Brazil, Argentina, etc.)
- Three or more years of professional experience as a writer/editor in magazines and other publications
- Preference will be given to those fluent in the local language, or those bilingual in Japanese and English
- An understanding of creative culture, especially graphic design, art, and fashion
*preference will be given to those with writing and/or editing experience in these fields
 
3. Freelance photographers
- From all nationalities, either lives in Japan or abroad, are welcomed
*Preferred locales
- Asia (Other major cities in Japan aside from Tokyo, Beijing, Shanghai, Seoul, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, etc.)
- United States (New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, etc.)
- Europe (London, Paris, Amsterdam, Berlin, Milan, Scandinavia, etc.)
- Others (major cities in Canada, Australia, Brazil, Argentina, etc.)
- Three or more years of professional experience as a photographer for magazines and other publications
*experience filming video also a plus
- Preference will be given to those fluent in the local language, or those bilingual in Japanese and English
- An understanding of creative culture, especially graphic design, art, and fashion
*preference will be given to those with writing and/or editing experience in these fields
 
4. Freelance editorial designers
- Residency in Japan, regardless of nationality
*Fluency in Japanese is a plus for those from other countries
- Three or more years of professional experience as an editorial designer for magazines and other publications
- An understanding of creative culture, especially graphic design, art, and fashion
*preference will be given to those with design experience in these fields
 
5. Part-time staff & interns of +81 editorial team
- Residency in Japan, regardless of nationality
*Fluency in Japanese is a plus for those from other countries
- An interest in magazine publication *no experience in publication necessary
- An interest in creative culture, especially graphic design, art, and fashion
- Preference will be given to those capable of managing progress on tasks in English
